A 31-year-old man, identified by the initials RU, is under investigation by Grobogan Police for the alleged rape of a 90-year-old woman in the Grobogan regency. Authorities have stated that the alleged perpetrator was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident.
The Grobogan Police Deputy Chief, Kompol Muhammad Fadlan, revealed that the suspect and the victim’s family have a prior acquaintance. RU was reportedly a frequent visitor to the victim’s home. The alleged assault was discovered by the victim’s son, who is also known to the suspect.
"The suspect was already acquainted with the victim’s son and had visited the house on multiple occasions," Kompol Fadlan stated during a press conference at the Grobogan Police Headquarters on Friday, July 17, 2026.
The chronology of events leading to the alleged crime indicates that RU was present at the victim’s residence on the evening of the incident. The victim’s son reportedly left the home to attend a funeral gathering (takziah) and entrusted the care of his elderly mother to RU.
"The victim’s 90-year-old parent was left in the care of the suspect. Around 8:00 PM, the victim’s son departed to attend a social gathering or funeral," Kompol Fadlan elaborated.
Following the departure of the victim’s son, RU allegedly initiated the assault approximately an hour and a half later, around 9:30 PM. According to police reports, RU forcibly grabbed the victim’s hand.
"Subsequently, at approximately 9:30 PM, the suspect suddenly grabbed the victim’s hand," Kompol Fadlan recounted.
During the alleged assault, the victim reportedly resisted, leading to her being pushed and falling. There were also alleged threats made by the suspect against the victim before the sexual act occurred.
"The victim was pushed to the ground, and the suspect allegedly made threats before the sexual intercourse took place," Kompol Fadlan explained.
The victim’s son reportedly returned home shortly after the alleged assault began and discovered the scene. He found his mother in a fallen position and RU in a state of undress, wearing only a sarong and no undergarments.
"Not long after, the victim’s son returned home and found his mother on the floor and saw the suspect, who was only wearing a sarong and no underwear," Kompol Fadlan stated.
Upon being confronted, RU was reportedly unable to deny the accusations and admitted to the alleged rape.
"When asked what he had done, the suspect could not deny it and admitted to having committed the act of rape against the victim," he added.
Suspect’s Intoxication and Motive
Kompol Fadlan confirmed that the suspect was intoxicated at the time of the alleged offense. He indicated that RU claimed to have consumed alcoholic beverages and acted to fulfill his desires.
"The suspect admitted to consuming alcoholic beverages. The suspect committed the rape to satisfy his urges," Kompol Fadlan clarified.
The initial reports of the incident emerged earlier, detailing the arrest of a man in Grobogan for alleged sexual violence against a nonagenarian woman. The perpetrator reportedly exploited the victim’s vulnerability when she was alone at home.
The incident occurred on the evening of Monday, June 29, at the victim’s residence in the Grobogan sub-district. The Grobogan Police Chief, AKP Sunarto, previously explained that the victim’s family had left the house to attend a funeral.
"At that time, the victim was at home alone after her family members had left to attend a funeral in the vicinity," AKP Sunarto stated in a written statement on Thursday, July 16.
"Allegedly taking advantage of this situation, the suspect, who was at the victim’s house, proceeded with his actions," he added.
The suspect was apprehended by police at his residence on Wednesday, July 15. According to AKP Sunarto, the suspect has since been taken to the police station.
"Following the investigation, the Grobogan Police Criminal Investigation Unit successfully apprehended RU at his residence without resistance. Subsequently, the suspect was taken to the Grobogan Police Station to account for his actions," he stated.
